  1. Ergonomic Job Evaluation: An ergonomic job evaluation involves observing the job to identify any stressful postures and/or job tasks. If potential problems exist, pictures are taken and pertinent measurements, part weights, etc. are recorded. The evaluation is conducted using accepted ergonomics guidelines. Written recommendations will be provided on problem jobs.

  2. Ergonomic Job Analysis: An ergonomic job analysis is a more in-depth evaluation and is usually performed on jobs where potential problems are not readily identifiable or where an injury has already occurred. This may involve videotaping the job and analyzing it element by element to identify and quantify all potential stressful postures and job tasks. A detailed report will be provided.

  3. Ergonomics Training: Ergonomics training is customized for your employees. A walk through tour of your facility allows me to get an understanding of your operation. Pictures will be taken that can be used in the training sessions. (Give your safety staff a break from conducting this month’s safety training.)

  4. Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and Essential Job Function Requirements (EJFR): Job safety analyses (JSA) identify potential hazards associated with performing jobs and include recommendations to eliminate or reduce those hazards. This is an opportunity to have an ergonomist develop your JSAs. In addition to making safety and ergonomics recommendations on the JSA, the essential job function requirements (EJFR) to perform the job will be included. Knowing the back stressor and upper extremity stressor level on each job allows categorizing it as: “Light, Moderate or Heavy.” This allows your medical and human resource departments to know the job requirements before assigning an employee who has weight and/or repetitive work restrictions to a job that might be beyond their capabilities.
